a seasonal memoir
We first boarded JFK Airport to go to Beijing it was a 12 hour flight nonstop and we learned is that you can sit in a chair for 12 hours and not feel uncomfortable and not move all my other classmates and people I was uncomfortable getting to know we’re already getting to mingle and have a good time meanwhile I just stayed with my farmers looked at my former farmers book and ready until I understood whatever I need to understand or where we’re going we had the itinerary planned and we took that itinerary we went around all over eight cities in China we started in Beijing and we spent one day there that’s what our story begins but our story really began a little bit before that there was a flyer in Brooklyn College this story starts in Brooklyn as I was a Brooklyn College student and I was also coming in as a Brooklyn College student going with President and I needed a change and I was burdened out and I needed to go out go on vacations and the specification I thought was traveling abroad and because I traveled abroad I learned things that I would never normally are new cultures new customs new societies things I’ve never seen before but I didn’t go for that reason I just went for change I was tired of the concert constant drudgery of politics so I want to come back fresh and renewed I broke up with my girlfriend and pack my bags and traveled abroad sometimes you need a fresh start And I and I always promise less than I give and I give more than anybody expects always promise the thing is that there was a lot of stress at the time psoriasis was getting worse and when I got to China it started getting better but even though I’m a solution the methotrexate was good for the traveling but it had severe toxic side effects later on I’ll think about it that was risky it was risky going so ours was all around at that time sARS disease and But I got my courage up and just got up and left because it was time for me to go I knew when it was time for me to go and I will be gone for a short time I didn’t call back home for that month and I went for 1 month and it was a study of our trip with the community China Kenny study abroad programming dr professor assuming Lou We play basketball all over that country and I was the best and I could take on anybody I was so confident that I could stop me I dropped all the weight and we landed in Beijing the first place we went to was a hotel it was like a really kind of stinky hotel but we landed and it was good I thought someone was pollution and it was just weird culture we’ve never seen nothing like it I mean these were Chinese people with a trip but they saw everything like it but I never saw nothing like it and there was a Taiwanese with us entangle in knees me Pakistani American and African American guys the four guys the four horsemen and the rest were 1920 girls so the odds are hooking up a pretty good so so what do we do no stories my roommate prank call people’s rooms and the girls to pictures with me to intimidate their or turn on their high friends I took advantage and I smugly swallowed smiled so there was a lot of piracy in the time we went that was a time when Nanjing was no longer the capital of Beijing was the capital that’s pretty recent history but in Beijing when we landed the story is from Brooklyn to Beijing it really is a bruise from capitalism to communism to church from capitalism to China it’s one that’s like two worlds meeting together and it was my first diplomatic trip abroad and during that time I learned a lot about life and people and society and cultures and things you learned about food and and how to relate with a roommate I never really had a roommate that wasn’t a friend just a stranger so that’s kind of funny though so I think funny thing is is that the funny thing is that we will crack jokes and take pictures and record videos and I have all the tapes and everything I have pictures and I wrote a camels and I’m old snakes and a home and two alligators crocodiles or whatever we call them and I hate snake in China that was disgusting but that was the winter we’re talking about the summer this was a summer trip I saved that for another book the winter I had no interest in relationship at this point I have to break me up with that tea it was a bad relationship I need a clean break so I played a lot of basketball I’ve lost a lot of weight and I came back and I stressed out when I came back but I had a great time when I was there I still want much of these days my college travel abroad that was my growing up time so I’m a big kid so what’s a little Brooklyn boy made a big invasion Beijing yeahbabybegin.com Beijing I want to annotate you graham Austin train I went to Dr. Tea and bought Tea and carried it the whole way out took my law school hooks for studying for the outside LSAT and I failed that crap later on but at the time I just lived in the moment one day to the next the best I could I didn’t think of nothing I had not care in the world I didn’t care forward or backward I would like to care of everybody I watched so everybody and I stood by everybody Set a memo of the Times and feelings of the mood so and picturesque moment of youth joining adulthood some adulthood young and boys and girls and young guys and girls getting together we didn’t make hot or the funny thing is do you want a massage so you almost got beat up and everything who knows by the way what happened a dirty fellow with a good guy my mate was these who d and just a little guy being good friends and couldn’t apart now as everybody every friends friendship stuff he’s just we’re not a scene anytime just wear the apart and you just move on and your new adults are out in reflection I realized that I don’t vest as investment time and people as I would like to I think it’s very important for people to invest in other each other and find love in ourselves I didn’t know each other love farther each other’s for your herself from each other for our own sake so we can be better people but love belongs to your wife to the to your spouse someone in the dreams he’s a woman she’s a woman I met her once I don’t have a meter again after I go let’s digress that’s another memoir this memoir is concealed by time in China then that summer 2000 and 4 where all the cares in the world disappeared and we just explored the world like John Goodard or some famous explorer Marco Polo or some random guy someone we got to be using we started Beijing we got the restaurant and then we want them in the morning we had breakfast so you see his new worlds felt that the world was ironing with tasty cookies and some tasty food but I got a plate and I almost missed the bus and I was being yelled at me what now happened she that mystical picture and it was a difficult situation for me another jet lag for like warming out 12 hours from the JFK on here in your vagina here China here ear airplane was too much for me priscilla was already there professor was already there and probably got there we went to KFC and it opens like 8:00 AM sharp and everything was a line and nobody wanted to eat the folding in the rest of in the cafeteria in the dining room I thought it was good but in this thought it was weird you know once I got up with the weirdness you know became some of the best food I ever I never eat Chinese food for months after that when I came out we climbed all stairs and opened this kind of bridge in China they are outside the jaywalking between streets traffic is so bad congestion is so bad and pollution is so bad thank you can get screwed over so what we did was we took the bridge over it’s all for pass and travel to the next KFC ambulance online to get breakfast I’m even O caves you have breakfast in China I don’t even know if there was a café in China let her launch China Walmart that time China was bowling economy and 10% per GDP girls per year and just like the girl turned hyper Hyper economic growth so we are at the palm of the industry the poem bon bon as a politician I thought it was important for me to see the work for myself and I was looking for something the truth and poverty was the truth there an economic poem but the big downside the poverty and suicide and that thing inflation and dead zones economic dead zones and the parts you don’t see the poverty and equipment the country so badly and hence so socially and culturally cultural revolution gene soul sister Apple might be the beneficiary of that system but that’s just a temporary situation Steve Jobs at the time but even Steve passed away from pancreatic cancer and I can give it over the high bottles we only had the time an iPod but I know what happened was and I thought Apple was the best of what they do the computers like China’s computer infrastructure was so bad at the time and everyone tonight but they had wireless system with a highly advance their cellular network was pretty good the national calling and texting put the phone to work terrible at the time there was no iPhone developed at the time that would be in 2007 and first left home launch and everybody wanted the Asian market and I hero walks back stead American banks and American Pakistan American went access to win access to a community of local neighbors and the best thing I could do was get to know the landscape the park the landscape so show economic and political landscape time of the times as a purple and boy I grew up with burger in Brooklyn oh yeah and I grew up with burgers and fries and 4th of July and here I am in a Ford land floor a Ford plant with no clue what to do no way to communicate no way to swap survive but I did when it was the best experience I ever had in traveling abroad I just thought it was something like landed them but everybody just do it once in their life some people today as a career to get through college for me it was a large Japan for change aren’t too bad you’re launching bad the thing is is that when you go to a foreign country why not watch yourself in the culture now like just I had to take glasses on intercultural communications business communications Chinese lunch and tour the country so the country went from Beijing to Xi’an and Nanjing to Wuxi to Shanghai.
