This is review of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.

This book taught me the idea of foreshadowing.  Which we all recognize today as a literary device to propel the story.

However at the time of this books publication it was a novel idea.

Treasure Island’s pace is sluggish at the first two-thirds of the book and picks up near the end.

In all honesty, the last climatic chapters I have skimmed and hope to read it some day.

Yet, there is something familiar in the tale of kid who goes out to sea. That inspires generation and generations to pursue riches elsewhere.

I would not say that the suspense was building during the book.  But plot twists and answers where revealed as the story went on.

It was a fascinating read.  Is it a good book or bad book.

I give it a gold star in literature.
